To answer the question "Why Vegan?", perhaps first the explanation of what veganism means in the first place.
Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of animals, humans and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.
You can eat everything except meat, fish, eggs, honey and dairy products or products that contain eggs / honey / milk of animal origin.
But don't panic, these days there is fortunately a huge selection of vegan alternatives for everything you can imagine, beside everything that has always been vegan (plantbased foods).
Many products are even higher quality in the vegan version, such as chocolate.
Please look for the Vegan Label and the Cruelty Free Label.
The Vegan Label often also "vegan formula" confirms that no animal products are contained.
The two Vegan Labels are also animal testing free, but the Cruelty Free Labels have stronger control mechanisms regarding animal testing.
However, the Cruelty Free labels say nothing about the ingredients and can also be on non-vegan products.
Let's explain this with a saying:
I used to go to the zoo because I loved animals. Today I don't go to the zoo because I love animals.
This also applies to marine aquariums, circuses and animal attractions of any kind.
And no one expects you to become a perfect vegan overnight.
You can also step by step replace animal products with plantbased products from your everyday life.
But if you are against animal suffering, the ultimate goal should be to replace all possible products with vegan ones in the near future.
Below are some videos that will surely open your eyes.
Please always remember, every receipt is also a ballot, for or against animal suffering!
And if you buy animal products, you are directly responsible for animal suffering.
